Did you get your education on at GIS? BASF sure did. Education was BASF’s theme at the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) Golf Industry Show, held Jan. 31 – Feb. 2, 2008 in
Orlando, Fla.

BASF sponsored the GCSAA’s Innovative Superintendent Breakfast and Awards. BASF sales specialist Campbell Cox addressed the crowd of superintendents on Thursday before the presentations.

Dr. Peter Dernoeden of the University of Maryland (pictured below) and Dr. Joe Vargas of Michigan signed copies of their recent books.

In-house technical experts from BASF shared ideas on how superintendents can be more successful controlling pests. BASF senior market development specialist Kyle Miller shared tips on controlling anthracnose.

Answer:
Opportunity to win and learn. Question: What is BASF Turf Jeopardy? Show attendees were invited to share their expertise by playing Turf Jeopardy. Participants walked away with Jeopardy calendars, hand-held Jeopardy games and cash cards.

BASF threw its annual Distributor Appreciation Party at the Hard Rock Live on Friday night. The BASF Ultimate Bar Games Bash featured food, drinks, gaming and the band 2 A.M. Attending distributors were eligible for a drawing to win cash prizes and the Grand Prize of $1,000 and an electric guitar. Congratulations, Steve Derrick of Southern States Coop. He promises to put the guitar to good use. Rock on.

BASF offered superintendents the chance to enter a drawing in the booth for a six-day, five-night trip with a guest to
Ireland March 1 – 7 to attend the Golf Course Superintendents Association of Ireland (GCSAI) Annual Conference to be held at the Knightsbrook Hotel & Golf Resort. The drawing had over 300 entrants and the lucky winner is Richard McCarney of Camden CC in
Camden, S.C.
