The territory has experienced both severe flooding & freezing rain followed by significant snowfall events. Crown hydration in the poor drainage areas are a real concern for turf loss. This spring will answer those questions. Northern Michigan & Northern Pennsylvania have experienced above average snowfall accumulation which has been very good for the Ski-Resort business and the economy in those areas. This is key for the resorts that have both Golf & Ski market segments. The Ski Resort portion of the business makes the money and the golf business pays the bills.

A few highlights from my territory this week…
I met with several golf course superintendents for Trinity demo follow ups, and a FarmLinks follow up meeting. The gentleman who had been to FarmLinks had some serious issues with dollar spot. Looks like he’ll be trying the Emerald “Spring first” application and Fall last application next fall.
I also met with several key Atlanta based distributor sales reps at John Deere Landscapes and later Harrells. Both expressed concerns over lost business due to the drought in my territory. Both shared similar concerns heading into 2008, with many unknowns looming. The real problem is Atlanta has a water management problem, not necessarily a drought crisis problem. Our population has doubled since the 1996 Olympic games.
This is truly an exciting time to be here, I’m loving every minute of it.
Ya’ll be good.
