Donahoo’s Dish

Florida’s wetter than normal spring season is causing greater disease and weed pressure than what we’ve seen the last couple of years. Insignia fungicide continues to gain ground over Heritage. I’ve heard—more than ever before— that many superintendents have completely switched to Insignia. I’m even seeing increased interest in Curalan and Emerald.  An uptake in Pendulum herbicide sales in my territory may be due to the substantial increases in fertilizer and fuel costs and flattening out of maintenance budgets.

With Pendulum AquaCap, superintendents get an affordable and reliable product. With the current market trends of high fertilizer and fuel costs not likely to change anytime soon, I believe more than ever that that our pre-emergent products will be in high demand in the southern and western golf markets. Also, every audience I speak to about Drive XLR8 is very enthusiastic about trying it.

Other recent highlights include presenting at Golf Venture’s sales meeting, sponsoring a group of Naples area superintendents at FarmLinks, completing several ride-alongs in the southeast coast area and spending the day with the Howards team at the Bayhill Classic in

Orlando along with Campbell Cox.

Upcoming notables include giving a CEU talk to two south Florida GCSAA chapters on “Better Pesticide Application,” sponsoring a superintendent group from Orlando at FarmLinks and several Gulf Coast ride-alongs.Until next time…
