John’s Red Sox Nation Recap

September 8th, 2008
By John Bresnahan jbresnahan1

Red Sox dominate while NE Patriots head for another top-seated season
Just a quick RED SOX update before we get into business. I believe (note my word use) that we are seeing the beginning of the end of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The RED SOX have now fully exhausted the competition and are poised to run the table and secure the American League East one more time. And hold on to your seats as the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS take the NFL again, despite the prejudice and jealousies of the rest of the free world. Such is life in the City of Champions.

If you disagree with my sports foresight, send me a comment with your predictions.

New England’s heat and humidity stress Poa and golf course superintendents this year

This has been a very stressful year for Poa in New England. We have had a cool, wet spring quickly followed by HOT, HOT, HUMID, HUMID conditions throughout eight weeks of June, July and August. There are no root systems, weak plants and we have seen quite a bit of summer patch, anthracnose, dollar spot, and pythium, etcetera!

Trinity™ fungicide knocks out Summer Patch and beefs up Bentgrass!
Trinity fungicide has shown great results as both a preventative and curative product in the market for summer patch this year. In every case that Trinity was used, the Bentgrass looked like it was on steroids! Trinity is a truly a solid DMI product with unique attributes.

Summer Patch disease begins as scattered small round patches of thin, wilted or slow-growing turf. Initially, affected patches may be only 3 to 8 cm in diameter, but they may enlarge to about 30 cm in diameter and range from grayish green to light tan or straw-colored.
